TheRebateMap.com (“this site”, “we”) is an independent publisher of research about federal, state, and utility rebates and tax credits for home energy improvements. This page explains what data the site collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
This site is operated independently. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the ENERGY STAR program, any state energy office, any utility, or any other government agency or program administrator. We link to official sources so you can verify every figure yourself.
What we collect
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your approximate location (derived from IP address and not stored by us at full precision), device and browser type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you personally, and we do not enable Google Signals or advertising personalisation features. The measurement ID for this site is published here once the analytics stream is in place.
Server and security logs. Our web server and our CDN provider, Cloudflare, keep standard access logs containing IP address, timestamp, requested URL, and user agent. These are used only for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing errors.
Comments and forms. This site does not currently run a comment form, a newsletter signup, or a lead-capture form. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any such form goes live, and the form itself will state what it collects and who receives it.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information. We do not knowingly collect information from children. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank or utility account details, or copies of tax returns, and you should never send those to us. Apply for any program directly through the administrator’s own official channel.
Cookies
The only cookies set on a normal visit are those placed by Google Analytics and, in some cases, by Cloudflare for security and performance. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings without losing access to any content on this site. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Third parties
Data described above is processed by Google (analytics) and Cloudflare (content delivery and security). Each operates under its own privacy policy. We have no other third-party trackers on the site at this time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data relating to you, and to object to its processing. Because this site does not maintain user accounts or a customer database, in most cases the only data associated with you is anonymised analytics and short-lived server logs. If you believe we hold data about you and want it removed, contact us and we will act on the request.
Accuracy of program information
Every dollar figure and eligibility rule published on this site is sourced from a primary document published by the body that administers the program, and is dated. Programs change, states set their own rules, and utility schedules move on their own calendars. Nothing on this site is legal, tax, or financial advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship. Always confirm eligibility and amounts with the administering body before you spend money or sign a contract.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the site’s data practices change, and the “last updated” date above will change with it.
