Write to us at [email protected]. That address reaches a person, not a ticketing system, and it is the only channel this site operates. There is no contact form here, because a contact form is the usual way a site of this kind quietly collects a lead.

What we are glad to hear about

• A figure on this site that is wrong, out of date, or missing its source. Point at the page and, if you can, at the document that contradicts us. This is the single most useful message you can send.
• A state or utility program we have not covered, especially a small one that the national roundups ignore.
• A program that has changed: new funding, a pause, a waiting list, a closed application window, a revised income tier.
• A page that reads as though it were written for an advertiser rather than for you. That is the failure mode we care most about catching.
• A broken link, a page that will not load, or anything that behaves strangely on a phone.

What we cannot do

We are not an administrator of any program, we have no relationship with any state energy office or utility, and we cannot influence a decision anyone has made about your household. Specifically, we cannot check the status of your application, tell you whether you personally qualify, place you in a queue, expedite anything, or intervene when a program says no. Every one of those belongs to the body running the program, and on each page we link to the office that can actually answer.

We also do not give tax advice. Whether a credit applies to your return depends on facts about your return that we do not have and should not have.

Please do not send us

Do not send your Social Security number, your date of birth, your bank or account details, copies of tax returns, utility account numbers, or medical information. We do not need any of it, we cannot use it, and email is not a safe place to put it. If a message arrives containing that kind of information, we delete it rather than file it.

If you want to describe a situation, describe it in general terms. Your state, roughly what you are trying to install, and roughly what you were told is enough for us to point you at the right document.

What to expect

One person reads this mailbox, so replies are not instant and there is no guaranteed response time. Corrections get read first and acted on first. If you send a correction with a source, expect the page to change before you get a reply, because fixing the page matters more than answering the email.

If you administer a program described here and something we have published about it is inaccurate, write from your official address and we will correct it and note the correction. We would rather hear from you than from a reader who was misled.
